At Inner West Drama we value play! Our kids have busy lives which leave very little time for them to dream together with nothing more than their imaginations. 

Inner West Drama is a welcoming place where kids get to make up their own stories to share. In our classes, there is no wrong way, but instead, a lot of different ways.

We provide children with the opportunity to explore their ideas and negotiate the ideas of others through play and games of imagination. At the same time they’re learning performance skills such as how to present confidently to a group and how to be heard and seen on stage. 

Classes for children in Kindergarten to Year 2

Classes for Kindergarten to Year 2 are designed to introduce children to basic theatrical concepts through games, songs, improvisation and working with simple text. There is a strong focus on creative play and fun. Children are directed to use play to create their own performances and along the way develop the confidence to present their ideas to a group with self assurance.

Children explore various themes relevant to them through the use of improvisation and storytelling, cultivating the ability to think creatively and the courage tackle issues close to their hearts in a safe setting. 

Classes for children in Year 3 to Year 6

As well as introducing children to basic theatrical concepts, classes for children in Year 3 to Year 6 further expand skills working with text and exploring characters and script development. Children explore various themes through the use of improvisation and storytelling, cultivating the ability to think creatively and present their ideas with self-assurance to a group. Teachers promote an inclusive environment that encourages curiosity and discovery.
